One District One Product ‘ODOP Wall’ launched
One more step forward towards realising Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of showcasing the uniqueness of Indian Craft before the world: Shri Charanjit Singh
One District One Product (ODOP) and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) have teamed up to introduce the ‘ODOP wall.’ This collaboration was launched by Shri Charanjit Singh, Additional Secretary of Rural Livelihoods at the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. He highlighted that this partnership aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of showcasing the uniqueness of Indian crafts globally.
The One District One Product (ODOP) program, which operates under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) within the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, aims to make India self-reliant by fostering balanced regional development across districts. This initiative selects, promotes, and brands a distinctive product from each district, displaying the diverse range of products across the country, including handlooms and handicrafts.
During the launch, officials from both the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, including Ms. Smriti Sharan, Ms. Swati Sharma, Shri Raghvendra Pratap Singh, Ms. Nivedita Prasad, and Shri Raman Wadhwa, were present.
Through this collaboration, products with unique qualities and cultural significance are being identified from various districts. These products encompass handicrafts, handloom, and agricultural items deeply connected to their place of origin. The aim of this partnership is to encourage consumers to explore emporia, boost sales, and further enhance the visibility of SARAS products. This effort promotes the crafts of indigenous artisans, particularly rural self-help groups (SHGs) composed of women.
